Matchmaking Concert

Skarlett Woods and Retro Band take the stage at Art in Motion for an evening of Music! As part of our Matchmaking music series.

Art in Motion committed to supporting local musicians at all levels. The Matchmaking concert series is a mentorship pairing program we hope will organically contribute to the growth and enrichment of musicians in our area.

For you, the audience, this means that you will get to hear TWO groups perform in one evening with the wood fired pizza, AND IT’S FREE TO ATTEND! We do still encourage donations to the musicians.

About the Bands

Profoundly introspective, Skarlett Woods is an American singer-songwriter who has never been one to follow what most people view as conventional. Long before she developed her current Contemporary Folk-Jazz style, she has been drawn to music, but didn’t arrive at a career in music by any conventional route. The daughter of an actor, she grew up around theater people and developed a love for performing, particularly singing. She saved up for her first guitar at age 11. Like a lot of young artists, she decided to take a hiatus from performing to explore other facets of life. Some pretty unusual circumstances led her to return to music.

Retro Band

We are a 4-piece acoustic group with years of experience playing music in bands and duos in the St. Cloud area. We started Retro in 2022 to have fun making music that is of a quality others can enjoy. On guitar, we have Gregg Engdahl and Jeff Wood. Bass Guitar, Mike Johnson and Ruth Johnson on vocals. We have a wide-depth in lead vocals, with Ruth, Mike, and Jeff and often feature 4-part harmonies in our songs. Jeff on harmonica adds an extra dimension to our sound.

We sing a variety of hit tunes, mainly from the 1960's-1990's, featuring pop, folk, country, & soft-rock genres. Our audiences enjoy our song selections & harmonies. We feature acoustic, lead , and bass guitar and harmonica.

This program is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant form the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund. Additional thanks to HerARTS in Action for fiscally sponsoring this program.
